Taylor Swift fans ‘refused entry’ to one London pub after new album reference | Music | Entertainment

Taylor Swift set the internet on fire last week when she released her highly-anticipated album, The Tortured Poets Department.

The album was full of oblique and transparent references to her former fiancé Joe Alwyn, as well as other parts of her love life.

However, one song in particular has caused quite a ruckus in the UK’s capital. Taylor’s 17th track on The Tortured Poets Department, The Black Dog, apparently references a place, not an animal.

The song’s lyrics croon: “And your location, you forgot to turn it off. And so I watch as you walk into some bar called The Black Dog and pierce new holes in my heart.”

As a result, The Black Dog, a small pub in Vauxhall, London, has confirmed they had an insurmountable number of fans hitting their front door over the past week.

Speaking to Sky News, the pub’s marketing consultant, Amy Cowley, said: “We’re really happy to ride this wave, it has been surreal. We have received thousands of requests from Taylor Swift’s fans regarding merchandise, so we are setting up a dedicated email address for people to contact us on.”

She added: “People just want things to show they have been to the pub, or to have something associated with The Black Dog. But the weekend was very busy.”

Things got so bad that the pub had to refuse entry to some fans after word got out.

“We had to turn people away,” Amy continued. “Because so many wanted to come in. We needed extra security to deal with it all.”

Thankfully, The Black Dog sees the bright side of the popularity. Amy added: “Taylor Swift has nine nights at Wembley in the summer, so we’re preparing for that already. It would be something if she would come down to the pub and have a drink with us. We would love to do something fun with her.”

She’s likely not the only person looking forward to The Eras Tour in London this summer. And, thankfully, there are still many tickets available for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Wembley shows this year – if you know where to look.

viagogo, one of the world’s foremost ticket resale sites, has many tickets available for the Love Story singer’s shows, which are coming up in the next few months.
