Millions of LG TVs get a blockbuster free upgrade check your model now

Fed up with watching the same old boring box sets? LG users now have more things to view on their TVs thanks to a massive free upgrade from two cinematic giants. The blockbuster channel boost is coming from a new platform from Sony along with a major partnership between LG and Lionsgate. So what’s now available to watch?

First up there’s that update from Sony with eight channels launching under the Sony One umbrella. These include Sony One Comedy, Sony One Faves, Sony One Comedy HITS and Sony One Action HITS. Sony has confirmed that it will show content including comedy series such as Seinfeld, The Nanny and The Goldbergs along with series like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and Justified.

There’s also a swathe of Hollywood movies available at launch including Jerry Maguire, District 9 and Men in Black. If you love watching those Dragons in the Den there are another two channels dedicated to these entrepreneurs including Sony One Shark Tank and Sony One Dragons’ Den.

As we mentioned earlier, along with those Sony services, there are more things to watch thanks to a partnership between LG and Lionsgate. This means viewers will be able to enjoy acclaimed series such as Wong & Winchester and Paul T. Goldman. Other premium shows coming via this platform include Nashville and Boss, starring Golden Globe winner Kelsey Grammer along with MovieSphere, Wicked Tuna, Are We There Yet, Anger Management, Ghost Hunters, Grace & Frankie and Nashville.

So who will get these extra channels?

The good news is that any TVs released after 2016 should soon see these additional services appearing on their screens.

“LG channels are available on LG Smart TVs (models 2016-present) and can easily be accessed by pressing the dedicated key on the LG Magic Remote or via home screen,” LG confirmed.

If your TV isn’t included in that list then don’t panic. LG has just announced a completely new range of screens which all offer a faster AI Processor and improved upscaling which makes standard content shine on the big OLED screens.

LG is also promising better picture quality thanks to Quantum Dot and NanoCell colour technologies. Some of its more expensive goggleboxes will also feature hyper-realistic colour reproduction which makes things look just as the film director wanted.

Like all modern tellies, there’s full access to the most popular streaming services with apps such as Disney+, Netflix and Apple TV+ all built in.

There’s a full range of screens available in numerous sizes with prices starting from £1,399.
