If you’ve had a busy weekend and no time for a reset in your home, the last thing you want is to get ‘the text’ from your pal on Monday.
You might be wondering what ‘the text’ is, well it’s when your friend messages you before they come over. A 20-minute warning, if you will.
But what if you’re not ready to greet them? Well, tough. You can’t turn down a brew and a cheeky gossip with a mate.
What you can do, however, is blitz your home in quick time.
User @lous_home_ said ‘the text’ sends “the absolute fear of God through your bones” followed by the “I’ll pop over in 20 minutes text”.
Lou said she got the text when she was on the way home from the gym where she claimed getting her home “looking and smelling presentable” was more important to her than the way she looked and smelt.
She was doing a “quick clean”, cleaning her loo, hoovering her carpet, and more, but said she was only doing a superficial clean, rather than getting into the nooks and crannies.
Lou explained how she wanted to clean the things that would make her home smell good, joking she’s a “big advocate of fake it ‘til you make it”.
She admitted she only hoovered “the first three steps” of her stairs, because “that’s all they’re going to see”.
And said that once she finished “faffing”, she was left with around eight minutes to get herself ready to greet her pal.
Lou joked she would be pretending her “house always looks like this” and that she “didn’t do any cleaning before they came over”.
In the comments, someone joked: “At least you get the text,” saying her mates just drop in on her completely unannounced so she’s had no time to prepare her home.
“Nothing makes you move faster,” another hilariously penned, with many agreeing.
“I’m so glad it’s not just me who cleans the first few steps that’s in eye view,” a TikToker penned.
Another wrote: “I had a cleaner come over once, I cleaned before she came so she didn’t think my house was messy.”
