A mum-of-four who was tragically killed in a triple stabbing in Manchester has been identified as Alberta Obinim, 43, with heartfelt tributes flooding in.
The horrific incident took place on a Manchester street around 11.20pm last night, also leaving a 17 year old girl and a 64 year old man in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Family friend, Ibrahim Abu, paid tribute to the much-loved mum, telling the Manchester Evening News that she was a member of the city’s Ghanaian community and attended Blessed Baptist Temple church.
Mr Abu said: “She was a very nice lady.
“I knew her very well. We all go to church together. She always talked to people and was a mother to everyone. She was always laughing.”
Another family friend described Mrs Obinim as a “powerful and inspirational woman”.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the horror incident.
Greater Manchester Police said a 17-year-old girl, a 43-year-old woman, and a 64-year-old man were stabbed at a property on Barnard Road in the Gorton area near Longsight at around 11.20pm on Sunday.
Alberta sadly died at the scene while the two others were taken to hospital with injuries which are thought to be life-threatening, the force said.
Police say the suspect is understood to have been known to the victims.
A statement issued by Greater Manchester Police this morning said: “On arrival, officers including specialist firearms units alongside colleagues from the North West ambulance service found that three people, a 17-year-old girl, a 43-year-old woman and 64-year-old man had all suffered serious stab wounds.
“Sadly, the woman in her 40s sadly passed away from her injuries at the scene. The two others remain in hospital for treatment to injuries believed to be life-threatening at this time. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody ahead of being interviewed by detectives.
“A scene remains in place whilst our detectives continue their enquiries.
“They are speaking to witnesses to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, but early indication suggests the suspect was known to the victims and is being treated as an isolated incident.”
