Homemade crumble recipe is ready in 20 minutes using only 5 ingredients

Crumbles come in all shapes and sizes, but one particular recipe stands out for making concocting this delicious seasonal dessert a breeze.

BBC Good Food’s take on this post-meal treat serves four to six and only requires five ingredients and 20 minutes of your time for the preparation.

Bake for a further 50 minutes and you got yourself the perfect warm dessert to eat on its own or alongside some ice cream.

Classing this recipe as “easy”, the cookery website stated: “Make this speedy fruit crumble for when guests pop over.

“It takes 20 minutes to prep, then you can leave it in the oven while you entertain.”

Ingredients

450g fruit, chopped into one centimeter chunks

75g granulated sugar

50g butter, cold and cubed

100g plain flour

50g demerara sugar

Method

Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C for fan ovens) or gas mark 4.

In a bowl, combine the fruit with granulated sugar, using less sugar if you’re using canned fruit, ensuring it’s well coated. Transfer this mixture into a pie dish that fits snugly.

Work the butter into the flour until you achieve a light breadcrumb consistency. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the crumble heavy.

Stir in the demerara sugar until everything is well combined, then spread the mixture evenly over the fruit.

Bake for 35 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling and tender. Allow it to cool for five minutes before serving.
