A woman has shared the clever tactic her husband uses when he’s urgently trying to get hold of her.
Tola Balagun, a travel content creator, amused social media users by sharing how her husband might have interrupted her screen time with an ‘important’ message. She posted a photo on X of her Amazon Fire TV screen displaying the text, ‘Tola, answer your phone. What do you mean by flatbread. Is it Naan bread or wraps.’
The travel fan captioned the post: “When my husband goes to the store and he’s desperately trying to reach me, he sends messages to the TV. Tola shared this post on January 12 and it has gone viral with eight million views, 157,000 likes, 11,000 retweets and 1,000 comments.
One X user said: “This is brilliant. Please answer that man.” Another asked: “How did he achieve this incredible discovery?
“A lot of men all over the world need this update like yesterday. Immediately, she’s into her Korean or Mexican soap operas, the man’s message just interrupts like breaking news.”
A third joked: “Taking relationship communication to a whole new level.” Some people said Tola’s husband is clever for using the TV to get through to her.
One user commented: “Oh this would work on me better than a text cause the way I’m always watching something! He smart!”
A second guessed: “The man knows his wife is in front of the TV whenever she’s not with her phone.” Another user praised Tola’s husband for using this tactic and shared that they also used a home device for communication.
They said: “That’s actually brilliant. I did something similar to send a message to a Google home speaker and freaked (out) my mom who suddenly heard my voice through the speaker.”
Several people in the comment section wanted to know Tola’s husband did this with the TV so they could try it out for themselves. Users said: “How did he do this? We need this” and “How was this achieved? Need tutorials.”
Another husband, who struggles to get hold of his wife, commented: “Omg.This.I need this. The number of times I can’t reach my wife.”
Tola revealed how you can do this as she said: “For those asking how to do it, you need Fire TV. Then go to Alexa app>More>Communicate>Drop in or go to Alexa app>make an announcement.”
The help and customer service page on Amazon’s website reads: “Use Alexa to make one-way announcements to all Alexa-enabled devices registered to your account.” Alexa is Amazon’s virtual assistant and can be used to make announcements on all enabled devices registered to your account, such as your Amazon Fire TV Smart TV.
