Cook ‘crispy’ bacon with ‘less fat’ in four minutes using an air fryer – recipe

Crispy bacon is the perfect side to any breakfast but when cooking in a frying pan, it can seem to burn quite quickly, not to mention need lots of oil.

That’s where your air fryer comes into use and whilst cooking bacon in the appliance may not be everyone’s first idea, it can produce the tastiest result.

The BBC recipe notes said: “Cook bacon in an air fryer to achieve a crispy texture with less fat. The perfect bacon sandwich starts here.”

The air fryer bacon recipe has more than 30 five-star ratings with everyone raving about how “tasty” the bacon is.

What’s more, it will cook in as little as four minutes, depending on which bacon you use and how you like the result.

This recipe calls for six rashers of streaky bacon, or three rashers of back bacon and will serve between one and two people.

Start by laying the bacon in a single layer in the base of your air fryer, making sure the layers aren’t overlapping.

The size of your basket will determine how many rashers you can cook at any one time.

Set the appliance to 200C and cook streaky bacon rashers for four to six minutes, leaving them for a further four if you want crispier bacon.

Black bacon will take around four to eight minutes, depending again on your preference.

If you are cooking in batches, the second batch will usually be quicker as the air fryer has heated up so make sure to check regularly.

Remove the bacon using tongs and put it on kitchen paper to soak off any produced fat before serving.

Sausages can also be cooked in the air fryer in as little as 10 to 15 minutes at 180C.

Turn the sausages every five minutes until they are fully cooked through and pair them with bacon for a tasty breakfast sandwich.
