Man Utd: Erik ten Hag opens up on potential Marcus Rashford exit after club ‘name price’ | Football | Sport

On Sunday, United host Liverpool at Old Trafford in a historic first meeting at this stage of the famous competition, knowing defeat could spell the end of their season.

The FA Cup represents Ten Hag’s last chance of silverware in his second campaign, while Jurgen Klopp eyes the second instalment of a potential quadruple on his farewell tour.

Rashford had rediscovered his taste for goals ahead of the must-win clash, scoring in each of his last two games and five of his previous nine Premier League outings.

But this week, the 26-year-old’s future at United has come into question. The Mirror say PSG are preparing a second attempt to lure him away from his boyhood club this summer.

It’s claimed that the Ligue 1 giants are readying an offer worth £75million to test Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s resolve. United are said to value Rashford closer to £100m.

However, Ten Hag has taken the first opportunity to shut down any suggestion that Rashford could be nearing the exit door later this year.

“We did not re-sign him last season for four years with the intention to sell him now. He should be part of this project. It is not a subject we don’t talk about,” Ten Hag told reporters at Carrington this afternoon.

Rashford committed his future to United last summer, signing a new long-term deal worth £325,000-a-week until 2028.

He put pen to paper after a career-best season in which he scored 30 goals to help Ten Hag’s side lift the Carabao Cup – finding the net in every round – and finish third in the Premier League.

The Red Devils’ No. 10 has struggled to build on that this season, though, scoring just seven goals in all competitions.

Off-field issues haven’t helped simmer criticism. Ten Hag branded Rashford’s decision to celebrate his birthday at a Manchester nightclub just hours after a 3-0 derby defeat at home to City ‘unacceptable’.

He then dropped the England international for the 4-2 FA Cup win against Newport County for missing training due to illness after being spotted drinking in Belfast the night before.

Rashford undoubtedly features in United’s strongest attack, though, alongside Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.

The latter looks set to return from a short injury spell against Liverpool on Sunday. Ten Hag has confirmed he is in contention with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.
