Jamie Oliver’s toffee pudding is made with one unusual ingredient to make it even tastier

Sticky toffee pudding is a classic British dessert – and Jamie Oliver has a twist on the traditional recipe to make it even better.

The famous chef has insisted that adding dates to this pudding recipe gives it a caramel-like flavour, which helps enhance it to make it even more flavourful

In his cookbook ‘Simple One Pan Wonders’ Jamie wrote: “This sticky toffee pudding recipe with fresh dates is a real treat – you just can’t beat it ”

Not only do dates make sticky toffee pudding even more delicious but they are also packed with fibre, vitamins and minerals to help make your tasty treat a little bit more nutritious.

This dessert is perfect to make for anyone who wants a simple homemade dessert as it takes less than 10 minutes to prepare in just one pan before you leave it to bake in the oven for 35 minutes.

Method

Preheat oven to 180C. Boil the kettle and then place the dates in a food processor and cover with 300ml of boiling water, making sure they are completely submerged.

Place a roasting tray on the stove on a medium heat and add 250g of both the butter and sugar along with the whiskey and cream.

Simmer until slightly thickened and a deep golden colour. Gently swirl the tray occasionally to mix it and once ready place the sauce in a jug and set aside.

Blitz the remaining 150g of butter and sugar in a goof processor along with the dates, then crack the eggs in and add the flour. Blitz again until everything is fully combined.

Pour the mixture into an empty tray and crumble the fridge on top. Bake for 35 minutes or until golden.

Your mouth-watering sticky toffee pudding is now ready to serve. For best results, serve warm with a generous amount of the sauce poured on top.
