Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson has been the MCU’s new Captain America since the conclusion of the poorly received Marvel miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Taking up the shield from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers at the end of Avengers Endgame, he’s now set to star in his own solo movie.

Captain America: Brave New World co-stars Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, replacing William Hurt who died in 2022.

Filming on Captain America 4 initially wrapped in June last year for a July 2024 release but has been delayed to February 2025.

The MCU movie has just begun months of reshoots in Georgia, which are set to take place until August.

As for why such extensive reshoots are needed, multiple sources claim it’s down to poor internal test screenings at Marvel.

Scooper Jeff Sneider previously reported that those who watched an early cut of Captain America: Brave New World (previously titled New World Order) didn’t think the action sequences were “big or satisfying enough.” And as result, three major ones are being reshot from scratch.

Meanwhile, scooper MyTimeToShineHello tweeted today: “Movie tested so poorly they’re doing second round of reshoots. Ouch.” However, it looks like this is just the first round of reshoots as they were originally scheduled for January to May, but have been shifted to May to August.

Captain America: Brave New World hits cinemas on February 14, 2025.
