Driver shares simple trick for fixing car key button cheaply

Have you ever been left scratching your head as to why your car key isn’t working?

You might suspect it’s on death’s door or just playing up, so as a result, you’d be tempted to call your local mechanic for a fix. But, as it turns out, the solution is often far simpler than you’d imagine.

In many cases, your key fob may have simply run out of battery. So, before you panic, it might be worth rummaging through your utility drawer for a quick fix.

Taking to TikTok, user @master_driver666 has gone viral with her simple guide on how to replace your key fob battery with minimal fuss. Her enlightening video, which includes a variety of other car hacks, quickly racked up an impressive 60,000 likes in a few days.

She explained: “The car key cannot open the door, usually it’s because the car key is out of power. Let’s follow the gap of the car key to open it, there is a battery inside, take out the battery, then buy a battery of the same model and install it back. Now the door can open.”

For those in need, a replacement battery can be snapped up for a bargain on Amazon, or your nearest convenience store should stock them too. The savvy driver also divulged a tip for addressing unsightly gaps in your car’s hood.

Simply pop the hood and tighten two black devices clockwise. This should significantly reduce any space between the hood and the body of the car.

While this isn’t a major issue, it’s always worth tightening any parts of your car which have become loose over time. Since it was shared, many praised her for the savvy hacks which barely cost a penny.

One said: “Thank you for all your wisdom!” While another viewer added: “These are the most useful tips, thank you!” And a third commented: “Thank you for all the simple things I can save money.”

It comes as drivers are only just realising what common car feature really does. Most road users will know sun visors can already help prevent the sun from shining through the car windscreen.

However, many will not be aware that the visor can be twisted around to block sunlight from entering through the side window.
