A motoring expert has picked out the best three reliable used cars motorists should consider picking up in 2024.

Vehicles produced by top brands such as Toyota, Lexus and Honda make the list of top buys with models starting at around the £10,000 mark.

TikTok channel @rudycars2 unveiled the selection back in March with thousands having reacted to the clip.

A smooth ride and spacious interior were common themes among why the three models were all highlighted.

Lexus IS300

The Lexus IS300 sports saloon was the first pick with the model praised for its smooth ride and quiet cabin.

Speaking on TikTok, @rudycars2 said: “First we have a 2017 Lexus IS300. This is by far the best bang for your buck car. The 2017 Lexus IS300 has a nice V6 engine. It’s reliable and sporty, a great used car to buy.”

The expert added that the Lexus has more features than its competitors which makes it stand out from others on the market.

According to AutoTrader, the leading marketplace for new and used cars in the UK, a 2017 IS300 model is available for just over £15,000.

However, one TikTok user suggested the Lexus may not be ideal for those on a low budget with running costs likely to be higher than expected.

@patrick.tugwell said: “Lexus IS300 also uses premium gas and gets max 20/gal. It’s a beautiful car but it’s hella expensive.”

2021 Toyota Camry 

According to the specialists, the Camry made the top three due to its fuel efficiency, spacious interior and smooth ride

@rudycar2 added: “The next used car is the 2021 Toyota Camry. This is a no-brainer buy because this year everyone is turning in their 2021 leases. Great used car to buy

“This is a fantastic, reliable and affordable used car that you can buy in the year 2024. Great body.”

However, the Camry is likely to set motorists back with CarGurus selling a 2021 model for over £20,000.

Honda Civic 

A roomy cabin, advanced technology and a turbo engine installed were the three biggest selling points of the Honda Civic.

@rusycar2 commented: “The next used car you should be buying in 2024 is a 2019 Honda Civic. I can’t tell you how many times I see these cars with 200,00 miles, 300,000 miles, 400,000 miles and they just keep on running.

“And they have great resale value so when you’re finally done with your Honda Civic you can trade it in and still get a pretty good value for it. A real good used car, Honda Civic.”

The popularity of the Japanese hatchback means there are many to choose from with AutoTrader listing some examples for just over £10,000.
