A disgusted landlord has shared CCTV images of a group of laughing punters who he alleges staged a ‘dine and dash’ at his pub and left without paying for a £150 bar and food bill.

The alleged incident took place at the Horse and Jockey pub, in the pretty Peak District village of Tideswell on June 24 when the group of two women and two men enjoyed a slap-up meal at the venue.

The foursome enjoyed two £27 10oz ribeye steaks with trimmings and two tasty Derbyshire gammon steaks costing £15.25 each. According to landlord John Watson they washed it all down with real ale and lagers.

Mr Watson told the Mail Online the group, consisting of an older man and woman and a younger couple, simply “walked out and weren’t seen again”.

He told the paper: “We’re a family pub and our staff work really hard to provide good service and really good food and drink for our guests.

“The hospitality industry is only just getting back on its feet and we’ve come off the back of a difficult winter so losing £150 in revenue really matters to us, as it would to any pub in the country.

“I don’t know how people have the audacity to act that way, it’s shocking behaviour. We haven’t had anything like this before but it seems to be happening more often across the country.”

Exasperated by the incident the pub has posted photos of the alleged non-payers on their Facebook page, with the caption: “If anyone recognises any of these people please let us know, or kindly direct them back to the pub so they can pay their £100+ bill for food and drinks from Monday night the 24th.”

Commenting on the post, followers of the pub expressed their anger at the situation and many said they hoped the group would come forward.

One person wrote: “What a disgusting thing to do. I feel sorry for the pub, they work hard for their money.”

Another added: “I hope they get caught people work hard in the pub industry.”

The so-called ‘dine and dash’ phenomenon of enjoying food and drink at pubs and restaurants before making a run for it without paying has been an issue plaguing the hospitality industry in recent years.

In May, a couple dubbed Britain’s worst culprits for the stunt were jailed after racking up more than £1,000 in unpaid food bills.
