A far-right group is calling for demonstrators to gather outside Sunderland City Hall telling people “Let’s get this country back”.

In a message widely circulated on social media, the unnamed group are said to be organising the event to start this evening at 7pm under the title “Stop playing lottery with children’s lives”.

In a shared post the group says “Right everyone enough is enough, let’s get this country back to normal”, before adding “Bring an England flag let’s make a stand”.

Demonstrations were also planned for Salford and Liverpool.

The call for protest comes as ugly scenes broke out across the country this week in the wake of the deaths of three children, aged six, seven and nine, who were killed in a knife attack at a dance studio in Southport, Merseyside, on Monday.

Disinformation circulated afterwards wrongly named a suspect for the killings sparking far-right demonstrators to attack a mosque and police in the town on Tuesday night.

It’s now feared the unrest will spread to other parts of the country, with police on Friday bracing for more outbreaks in the coming days.

Express.co.uk have contacted Northumbria police for comment on tonight’s demonstration.
