Air fryers have become the latest kitchen must-have, but the struggle to keep them clean is real.
The grease build-up can be a nightmare to remove, making the cleaning process a laborious task for many.
In search of answers, one woman turned to the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page for advice on how to tackle her grimy Ninja air fryer.
Debbie Meany reached out asking: “Can anyone recommend a product to clean my Ninja air fryer?”
She continued, expressing her frustration with the stubborn grime: “It’s got lots of stuck-on sticky grease and no matter what I try it won’t come off, I have tried Elbow Grease, Pink Stuff, bleach etc.”
Attempting a different approach, other cleaning enthusiasts in the group suggested turning to a common laundry item – washing powder, for its grease-busting abilities.
Tracey Anne advised: “Try soaking in biological washing powder and boiling water. The enzymes in the powder break down the grease. Make sure you rinse really well though.”
Cassie Ross added her own success story: “Hot water straight from the kettle and a bit of washing powder. I swear by it. Mine looked just like that.”
Karen Macfarlane revealed her more cost-effective solution: “Elbow Grease wouldn’t remove the grease on my air fryer but the cheap laundry powder from Asda did.”
Adele Roons also chimed in: “I asked the same while back. My fav is putting washing powder in and pouring hot water on it. Leave to soak and clean.”
Some avid cleaners swore by the dishwasher tablet method, insisting that letting one dissolve in hot water was key to an effortless clean.
Cara Sidwell suggested: “Dishwasher tablet with boiling hot water, leave to soak then scrub with washing up liquid.”
Zoe Mitchell shared her tip: “I pop a dishwasher tablet into mine! Leave a few minutes then wipe it away, comes off straight away.”
Leanne Blair offered her method: “I put a dishwasher tablet in the basket, fill it with water (not too much or it will bubble over), then turn it on for 20 minutes.
“If it still has stubborn bits soak it overnight with washing up liquid. It’s the only thing I have found that works.”
Express.co.uk found that dishwasher tablets are effective at cutting through grease and the process can take as little as 15 minutes.
