A man faces murder charges after a young woman was tragically found stabbed to death by the train station in Ipswich this week.

The town was rocked by a brutal stabbing on Tuesday, August 6, when a murder investigation was launched following the incident on Burrell Road, close to the railway station. Shortly after 7.10pm that evening, emergency responders rushed to the scene upon receiving reports of the attack.

Upon arrival, police discovered a woman in her 20s with appalling knife injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency crews, including critical care paramedics from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, the 26 year old victim passed away after being taken to hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Tam Burgess commented on Tuesday: “Emergency services, including a number of police resources, were deployed to the scene and those in the area will continue to see an increased police presence throughout tonight and the coming days.”

Suffolk Police have now provided an update on their ongoing inquiry, revealing that a man has been charged with the murder of the deceased woman, reports the Mirror.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of a 27 year old Ipswich man yesterday morning, 7 August, on suspicion of murder. He was detained and brought to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre. Logan Burnett, residing at All Saints Road in Ipswich, has been formally charged with murder and is scheduled to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Friday 9 August.

A post-mortem examination conducted by the Home Office this afternoon has determined that the cause of death was fatal injuries from stab wounds to the victim’s chest.
