Top 10 PS4 games ranked – and Grand Theft Auto 5 is not Number 1 | Gaming | Entertainment

The PS4 may have launched more than a decade ago, but the old Sony console is still going strong. This is evident by the fact that the vast majority of new releases come to both PlayStation 4 and PS5, despite the PS5 entering its fourth year on the market.

Indeed, take a look at the latest PlayStation Plus releases for September, and they’re all playable on the PS4, including brand new games like Harry Potter Quidditch Champions.

Still, we’re not here to talk about new PS4 games, but rather the best PlayStation 4 games ever made, at least according to Metacritic.

Below are the top-ten highest-rated PS4 games of all time, and it might surprise you to find out that GTA 5 isn’t at number 1!

10. Journey

With a Metacritic score of 92%, Journey sees players travel towards a huge, far off mountain, crossing vast stretches of desert and other desolate landscapes. It also features an innovative online multiplayer element, where players meet other travellers, but can only communicate using musical chimes.

9. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Unsurprisingly, first-party Sony developer Naughty Dog features multiple times in this list, beginning with the excellent Uncharted 4. A fitting end to the Uncharted saga, the fourth Uncharted game sees intrepid explorer Nathan Drake travel to locations ranging from the Scottish Highlands to sunny Madagascar, all in the hopes of finding legendary pirate Henry Avery’s long lost treasure. It’s basically the video game equivalent of an Indiana Jones movie, and well worth a spot in the top ten.

8. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

The biggest shock on the list, Metal Gear Solid 5 somehow finds its way into the top-ten PS4 games above the likes of Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, Undertale and Inside! Of course, that’s not to say Metal Gear Solid 5 is a bad game, far from it. Hideo Kojima’s final release while working for Konami, The Phantom Pain extracts the characters, storytelling and stealth gameplay that made the Metal Gear Solid series famous, and drops it into a stunning open-world environment that’s ripe for exploration.
