Forget your TV, Samsung launches another smart new way to watch the telly

Samsung continues to make some of the most popular TVs on the planet but if you want your living space to be free of screens there is another way to watch content in pin-sharp 4K. The Korean technology giant has just unveiled its latest and greatest ultra-short throw projectors at the IFA technology show in Berlin which sit neatly by your walls to help them blend into your surroundings. In fact, thanks to a sleek new compact design and premium fabric finish from Kvadrat it should fit in with even the most style-conscious of homes.

When it’s time for a boxset binge or some Hollywood movie action, the projectors spring into life with them capable of beaming an image – up to 130 inches in size – onto your walls.

The Premiere 9 and Premiere 7 both offer 4K visuals and support HDR10+ for clear and vivid images. Samsung is also promising that you’ll get crisp footage even in bright environments.

They come with features such as AI Upscaling and Vision Booster technology to improve the overall experience and there’s even built-in speakers that include Dolby Atmos.

This should mean you’ll get a cinema-style experience without needing additional speakers in the room.

The Premiere 9 features 40W 2.2.2 channel up-firing speakers, while The Premiere 7 includes 30W 2.2ch speakers for an expansive dome of sound.

To make sure there’s plenty to watch they are powered by Samsung Tizen OS which offers quick access to premium apps such as Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+.

There’s also Samsung TV Plus included which features endless hours of free things to watch.

Even when not being used as a fully cinematic projector, The Premiere ensures convenience and entertainment for all consumers as a Smart speaker with hands-free voice control and a variety of music applications.

“The Premiere lineup is set to redefine the premium home cinema experience by combining our advanced laser technology with cutting-edge, user-friendly features that offer stunning picture quality and immersive sound,” said Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “As we continue to innovate, we envision a future where our products transform everyday living spaces into immersive entertainment hubs, setting new standards for home entertainment.”

It all looks very impressive but the only thing that might put you off is the price. The Premiere 9 is available now and will set you back a cool £5,999.

The Premiere 7 will become available in the UK in October.
