Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai was serenaded with a Taylor Swift song by Reds team-mate Andy Robertson ahead of the team’s clash with Chelsea on Sunday. The Merseyside giants are set to welcome the Blues to Anfield in the Premier League after climbing to the top of the table ahead of the international break.

Szoboszlai has been in Nations League action for Hungary over the last week and captained his country to a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands last Friday, before bagging a brace in a 2-0 victory over Bosnia three days later.

And the 23-year-old used the trip away from England as an opportunity to propose to his girlfriend.

Szoboszlai only confirmed his relationship with Hungarian influencer Borka Buzsik in July following Hungary’s exit from Euro 2024.

But the loved up couple got engaged during the international break after the football star proposed at the Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace in Budapest.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Szoboszlai posed for a picture alongside his fiancé with the city of Budapest in the background and captioned the post by writing: “She said Yes!”

Liverpool team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold responded at the time by penning: “Congratulations brother.” And Reds left-back Robertson reacted to the news by singing to Szoboszlai on the player’s return to Merseyside.

In a video posted to social media by Liverpool FC, Szoboszlai can be seen chatting to Mohamed Salah as the duo walk down a hallway at the club’s training ground.

Robertson then pops up in the background as he sings a line from Swift’s song Love Story, which went to No. 12 in the UK charts in 2008. “Marry me, Szoboszlai, you’ll never have to be alone,” Robertson sings as the midfielder turns around to look at the Scotland left-back.

Szoboszlai has been a key player for Liverpool under Arne Slot this season and has started six of his team’s seven Premier League matches and both of their Champions League games.

The player bagged assists against Ipswich and Manchester United earlier in the campaign and also turned provider for Salah’s goal against Bologna in Europe. He scored his only goal of the campaign for his club in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over AC Milan in September.

And discussing the Hungarian last month, Slot explained: “He has been important for us and his pressing has been outstanding.

“Something we have to work on is making him even more involved in scoring goals. He scored three last season but for an attacking midfielder at Liverpool, his numbers need to go up.”
