A former royal butler has said how Queen Elizabeth was among the best royals to work with as a result of her funny humour.
Grant Harrold, who was the butler for King Charles between 2004 and 2011 when he was the then Prince of Wales, exclusively shared with Express.co.uk what his life was like working for the Royal Family.
While he has many fond memories, including dancing with the late Queen at Balmoral, the ex-butler shared one memory he has that not many will know about.
He told Express.co.uk: “She always used to do things that were fun and unexpected. I remember once racing down a corridor with her.
“The guests weren’t in the room in time so we arrived at the corridor and obviously the guests should have been in the room first and they weren’t so I ran down the corridor with her.
“It was quite funny from running down the corridor to witty comments.
“The King and Queen Camilla also have a great sense of humour but with the Queen it was unexpected.”
Grant also said that while the Queen was the funniest royal to work with, he also got on very well with Prince Harry, who was unlike “traditional royals”.
The ex-butler revealed: “Harry was great fun, amazing, down to earth. When you think of royals historically, he was very different to traditional royals.
“He was very easygoing and fun; he was often seen at the pub. There’s a local pub near where I am and you’d go and see him in there having a pint.
“He was great fun; I really enjoyed being around him and spending time with him.”
Since serving the Royal Family, the ex-butler has gone on to become an etiquette expert.
