Taylor Fritz’s influencer girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, has detailed how there was an attempted break-in at their London AirBnb.
The glamorous couple were enjoying some much-deserved downtime in the English capital, after Fritz was defeated by Brit Jack Draper in the nearby Paris Masters, only to be the subject of a burglary.
Riddle claimed that they heard someone trying to break into the front door of the property, as Fritz ran to secure the secondary lock, only for it to be removed.
“At 4am this morning, Taylor and I wake [sic] up to someone trying to enter the code and break into the front door of the airbnb we’re staying at in London,” she wrote.
In a separate post, Riddle shared Fritz’s weapon of choice when dealing with mosquitos and intruders: “Of all the potential weapons in the house, this man grabs a tennis racket.”
Fortunately, the incident did not appear to ruin their London stay, as Riddle was seen enjoying a brunch a few hours later.
The London Evening Standard claim that despite attempts, access was not gained to the home where Fritz and Riddle were staying.
The influencer later said: “After we called 999, Taylor got distracted and tried to kill a mosquito.”
Riddle opened up on the situation and admitted that it was not the first time that she had been a victim of a break-in, having been forced to stay in temporary accommodation overseas away from her home in the United States.
For Fritz, the situation comes just a few days after losing to Draper in the Paris Masters last 32. The Wimbledon quarter-finalist had enjoyed a successful Asian swing, having recently reached the semi-finals in Shanghai, before going down to Novak Djokovic.
Fritz’s compatriot Ben Shelton even apologised to him for losing in Paris, admitting that he ‘choked’ during their doubles match in the French capital.
Fritz posted a birthday photo of himself at the League of Legends World semi-finals. Referencing his defeat alongside Shelton, he wrote: “27. Thank you for all the birthday wishes – didn’t do much for my bday besides lose a doubles match w/ @benshelton but at least got to go to the @leagueoflegends Worlds Semifinals the day before, so shoutout @riotgames cause that was [fire emoji].”
“Sorry I choked on the birthday bro,” Shelton quipped in the comments. Fritz responded with a laughing emoji and responded: “this L ain’t on u.”
Fritz will now enjoy some well-deserved time away from tennis, which began with a London vacation alongside his girlfriend, when a break-in attempt was foiled.
