The survey will be a boost for Biden‘s campaign after gloomy polling in recent weeks, but the race was found to be much closer when third party candidates are involved.

Biden is currently polling at 42 percent, compared with Trump on 40 percent. Meanwhile, Independent Robert Kennedy Jr. is polling at 9 percent with Jill Stein on 3 percent.

Thursday’s survey found Pennsylvania registered voters believe Biden has a better understanding ordinary Americans’ concerns, with 41 favouring him on this measure to Trump’s 37 percent.

Respondents also judged Biden to be the more honest and trustworthy of the two candidates, with 43 percent to Trump’s 28 percent.

44 percent said the Democrat had the character and good judgement to be Commander-in-Chief, with 31 percent saying the same of Trump.

However, concerns about Biden’s advancing years persist, with 40 percent saying Biden was too old to serve with just 6 percent saying Trump, who is only four years younger, was too old for the top job.

Another 40 percent said both were too old.

Those surveyed viewed said Biden shared the closest views on abortion, and same-sex marriage to voters in The Keystone State with 48 percent to Trump’s 35 percent.

However, Trump polled better on handling the economy, winning 48 percent to 39 percent. He was also judged to be slightly better on the military with 43 to 41 percent.

Though the poll put Biden with a big lead in Pennsylvania, a number of other surveys conducted in the state last month showed them tying, or giving Trump a slight advantage.

A Wall Street Journal survery released this week found Trump beating Biden in six out of seven key swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina , Nevada and Pennsylvania, with the two hopefuls found to be neck and neck in Wisconsin.

President Biden has rejected the gloomy polling, insisting it’s too early to put much stock in them, and accused the media of not reporting on surveys favorable to him.

Speaking at a campaign stop in Raleigh, North Carolina, last week, Biden said: “While we probably haven’t read a lot about it, in the last few days, there have been several national polls showing us leading now.”

The state, which Biden won by over 80,000 votes in 2020, is one of biggest battlegrounds of this year’s Presidential campaign.
