King Charles is pressing ahead with his royal duties with a plan to embark on a hefty fortnight tour in Australia later this year, it has been claimed. The monarch has reportedly seen a “successful” start to his cancer treatment.

The royal visit alongside Queen Camilla will take place in October, it’s understood, and the trip will include New Zealand and Samoa to lead the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, however a trip to Fiji is to be ruled out. A source told the Sun: “The King is raring to go and keen to get on with the job”.

Buckingham Palace sources said Charles is feeling “positive” after he was able to go on a walkabout on Easter Sunday with medics being “optimistic” about His Majesty’s prognosis.

The Palace said “nothing is ruled in or out” and they remain “cautious”. But insiders claimed the monarch is very “keen” to “hit the ground running”, however, the trip will include “significant downtime” to ensure he is in the best form to perform his duties.

The source added: “The King is raring to go after a significant amount of time off due to his cancer diagnosis.

“He knows he can’t hang around and is feeling extremely positive after tests meant he could attend the Easter Sunday service and spend time meeting the public, which he has missed

“He’s over the moon with the way treatment has gone and supercharging plans for Australia, New Zealand and Samoa.”

The insider claimed the monarch’s aim is to follow Queen Elizabeth’s mantra, that he needs to “be seen to be believed”.

Last Sunday, the King pleasantly surprised well-wishers in Windsor after he greeted them following the Easter Sunday Mattins service at St George’s Chapel, even handing out handshakes.

In yet another sign his cancer treatment is going well, the monarch will spend his 19th wedding anniversary on Tuesday at Birkhall in Scotland.
