There’s a new iPad launching this week, and that means buying the current model is a really, really bad idea. Although the very latest 2025 entry-level iPad looks identical to its predecessor, there are some big differences that not only boost the performance but also make it much better value.
When it hits stores on March 12, owners will be treated to a faster A16 processor along with getting 128GB of storage without paying a penny extra. Right now, the A14 Bionic-powered iPad only comes with 64GB of memory as standard, which means far less space to store your photos, files and movies.
Stores including Argos and Currys are still stocking that older 2022 iPad for £329 – however, if you head to Apple’s online store, you can pre-order the new model for exactly that same price but with those useful upgrades.
Sky has also launched a deal which offers this device for just £10.50 per month – that even includes mobile data as well.
Along with the faster speeds and bonus storage, the iPad still gets an all-screen design with a 10.9-inch display. There’s also a single lens camera, Touch ID fingerprint scanner, and it’s compatible with the Apple Pencil stylus.
The only thing you don’t get – even on the new model – is access to Apple Intelligence. That means you can’t automatically retouch images, get help writing emails or use the better Siri assistant or full ChatGPT integration.
If that Apple Intelligence is an upgrade you fancy, then Apple is also rebooting its popular iPad Air models this week, with these tablets getting the M3 processor tucked inside.
That supercharged brain offers performance gains of up to 40 percent which should help speed up tasks such as video editing, surfing the web and playing the latest AAA games.
The new iPad Air M3 also gets decent battery life, premium design, and it comes in two screen sizes – 11 and 13-inch.
