Amazon Spring sale cuts £220 off ‘effective’ robot vacuum

Amazon’s spring sale kicked off on Tuesday (March 25) with a huge £220 price drop on a best-selling robot vacuum cleaner. The roborock Q5 Pro+ Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Mop is now £279.99 in Amazon’s Spring Deal Days sale. This marks a 44% discount from the usual £499.99. The robot vacuum is the ideal gadget for maintaining a tidy home with minimal effort thanks to its automatic and simultaneous vacuuming and mopping functions that are said to remove fine dirt that vacuuming may miss.

It boasts a self-emptying system and a 2.5L dust bag that allows for uninterrupted cleaning for up to seven weeks without emptying, according to the brand. The clever gadget works by scanning the home to create a 3D map to find and navigate the best route to clean throughout each room.

It can also recognise furniture and other obstacles for smooth cleaning without any collisions, with users able to customise room maps by setting floor types and marking ‘no-go zones’ via the app. The Q5 Pro+ is ideal for homes with pets as its rubber brush is designed to resist hair, while its multi-directional design means the brush can be closer to the floor for deeper and more efficient cleaning. Ahead of the spring sale, the roborock Q5 Pro+ was the number one seller in Amazon’s Robotic Vacuums category. It has now been overtaken by the eufy G50 Robot Vacuum Cleaner as Amazon dropped its price to £119.99 with a new spring deal.

However, the eufy model features slightly weaker 4,000pa suction and a smaller 600ml dustbin, compared to 5,500pa and 770ml of the roborock. Elsewhere, Debenhams is offering a raft of alternatives in its own sale, with £71.02 off the Living and Home 4-in-1 Midea Robot Vacuum Cleaner and Mop at £136.98, down from £208.

Shark is also in the midst of its Spring Clean Sale, which has seen £100 cut from the Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop at £299.99. But the roborock Q5 Pro+ has achieved a slightly higher 4.3-star rating after more than 2,100 Amazon reviews, compared to the 4.2-rated Shark.

One shopper raved about the roborock vacuum, as they said: “Simply a lifesaver. This little gadget is hands down the best thing I have ever bought, I didn’t know I needed it so much. It’s super easy to program and off it goes, twice a day cleaning my house. It makes a little map of all the rooms and you can program all the rooms or just select ones, set the time and day and how powerful you want the suction. I have two dogs, [this] cleans up the fur with ease. My house has never looked so clean.”

Another said: “I did a load of research before buying this and this brand consistently came out on top. This is super effective, really efficient and great value for money. You can set timers, specific areas and suction mode. It also has a mop function, which I’d describe as more of a ‘wipe with a damp cloth’ but it’s great for daily use. Very easy to use overall, would highly recommend.”

A third buyer said: “Extremely useful device with good AI features that avoid and clean around objects with ease. It cleans our wood, laminate and carpet floors very well, picking up loads of dog hair. The initial mapping scan was fast and accurate, while the operating app is easy to use with the function to vary which room is cleaned and at what vacuum intensity.”

However, despite their five-star review, the same user noted a potential downside, adding: “The only downside is the mop function, which had a mediocre performance and I assume a more expensive model would not have this problem. I would recommend if the vacuum function is what is most important for your purchase.”
