The Beatles top Michael Jackson in new UK poll of most iconic album covers | Music | Entertainment

A recent survey by Currys asked 2000 Brits to choose what they thought was the most iconic/recognisable album cover, from a curated list of over 60 that regularly feature in round ups of their artwork.

Coming out on top was The Beatles’ Abbey Road, with almost 48 per cent recognising the zebra crossing shot from the 1969 record.

Despite being 55 years old, nearly half of 16-24 year olds could identify the album cover proving its timelessness.

To this day, fans and tourists flock to the London spot daily to reenact the band’s walk across the road for souvenir photos.

Coming in second place on the list was Michael Jackson’s 1987 album Bad, with 43 per cent of Brits recognising the cover.

Meanwhile, The Beatles also took third place in the UK poll with almost 37 per cent of participants recognising the Fab Four’s 1967 album cover, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Asked which decade had the most iconic album cover, the Eighties came out on top with 24 per cent of the vote, followed by the Seventies on 20 per cent and the Nineties on 18 per cent.

Despite two Beatles albums from the Sixties making the top three of the most recognisable album covers, less than 1 in 10 voted the decade as having the most recognisable. Check out the full results below.
