While Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard still has to officially launch, commentator Michael Cole suggested sending out 50 jars of her new jam is part of a long-range strategy to secure support for another of her projects.

Last week the Duchess was announced as the executive producer of a new Netflix show centered on cooking and lifestyle advice.

Speaking to GB News, Cole said: “One of the things they’re selling is themselves, that is their unique selling point, the fact they have royal status, and they’re going to have to work at it very hard.

“If it’s good it will sell, and why not? But it really is quite a step down from the pedestal they were once on.”
