Rare coins worth fortune – and could make you millionaire

Collecting items can often lead to fortune, but it turns out rare coins could be worth loads.

It might be worth rummaging through your coin stash, as you could unknowingly be sitting on a small fortune. TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard revealed certain silver coins to keep an eye out for.

In a recent video shared with his 137,900 followers, he highlighted six coins which could potentially “make you a millionaire”. He said: “1851 Florin or Two Pence Shilling piece with a very low mintage of just 1,500. This coin has an amazing value of £7,000 in top condition.”

He continued: “As for the 1828 Six Pence, there was just over 15,000 of this coin ever made and in top condition is worth £500. Meanwhile, the 1851 Shilling has around 470,000 coins made with a value of around £700.”

The TikTok user then went on to describe another valuable piece: “1841 Half Crown has a mintage of 42,000 with a top condition value of £5,000. Also the 1905 Half Crown from the UK has only 166,008 ever made. You can easily grab between £450 and £10,000 depending on the condition.”

Lastly, he mentioned the 1854 Four Pence coin, which had a “very low” mintage of 11,080. According to the coin enthusiast, even the poorest condition can fetch £230 but could go up to £2,000.

Since the clip went viral, numerous followers have flocked to the comments section to express their gratitude for the tip. One user exclaimed: “Wish I had some,” while another praised: “Great video.”

Another commenter noted: “And there are probably less now, with wear, loss and melted down for decimalisation.”

This isn’t the first time the coin enthusiast has shed light on the most sought-after coins.

In a recent revelation, he highlighted a rare 50p piece commemorating the London 2012 Olympics, valued at a whopping £2,000. The collector discussed the Aquatics coin from 2011, issued in anticipation of the games.

Although millions of these coins are in circulation, collectors should be on the lookout for a version with lines obscuring the swimmer’s face.

Finding this unique variant could mean it’s worth up to £2,000 if you’re looking to sell. The TikToker explained: “There were many of the pieces released in 2011, but this edition with the lines make it a rare coin to find. Not many have been found.”
