As the UK braces for a wet and windy few days, with many parts of the country being battered by torrential downpours and far more autumnal temperatures – hope is at hand for anyone hoping for the return of sunshine, as next week will see the mercury skyrocket to a scorching 31°C in the perfect end to Summer.
The unexpected heat spike is forecast to take place on Friday 30th August according to WXCharts, and will see much of England and Wales bathed in sunshine.
Starting off relatively mild, the temperatures will begin to climb throughout Friday morning, with hotspots like London reaching 30 degrees before noon.
In addition, Birmingham can expect to see temperatures of around 28 degrees, while Leeds and Manchester can enjoy an equally warm 27 degree spike as we head into the afternoon.
Some areas, such as Newcastle and Cardiff sadly won’t see quite as substantial an increase in temperatures, but are still set to enjoy temperatures in the low twenties to start the day off, with gradual increases continuing throughout the afternoon and into Friday evening.
By 6pm, temperatures are expected to be at their peak, with central areas seeing temperatures max out at 31 degrees, while surrounding areas also enjoy 29-30 degree temperatures for the remained of the evening.
Following the temperature peak, things will gradually begin to cool down by midnight, but muggy temperatures may prove to be an uncomfortable night for some with many parts of England still seeing temperatures well into the twenties overnight.
While temperatures form just one part of the forecast, weather conditions are also vital too – with the Met Office having offered up their own long range forecast for what Brits can expect towards the end of the month.
According to their estimation, “Many southern and eastern parts may stay dry and settled. The rest of the period is signalled to maintain the northwest-southeast split, but with settled weather in the south and east perhaps becoming more extensive across the country later.”
Looking further ahead, the Met Office also predict that moving into September, conditions will remain “dry and settled” for the first week, before descending into a far more mixed Autumnal combination of rain, wind and drier periods as the month progresses.
