New Galaxy S25 is finally confirmed with these very smart upgrades from Samsung

After months of rumours and endless speculation, the Galaxy S25 range of smartphones is finally here. These latest Android call makers have just been revealed at a huge launch in San Jose, California and include plenty of smart new features thanks to improvements to Samsung’s Galaxy AI platform.

The upgrade means users will get new features such as “AI Select”, which lets them scan a train ticket or upcoming concert using the rear camera, and Galaxy Intelligence automatically adding it to the calendar or offering instant directions.

There’s the addition of something Samsung calls the “Now Brief” which offers a quick snapshot of the day ahead including weather, important news and diary events such as birthdays or meetings.

The “Now Bar” is another useful addition to these devices with this upgrade offering proactive information such as football scores, timers set or directions via a small panel at the bottom of the screen.

Other smart changes include improved Google features, with “Circle to Search” now showing the best and cheapest places to buy things once circled on the screen.

This clever function also quickly recognises phone numbers, email and URLs on the screen as well, letting users call, email or visit a website with a single tap.

Another bonus coming to the Galaxy S25 is using voice search to find photos on the device faster (just say “photos of mum in London” and it should do the rest), and settings can also be changed just by asking.

The S25’s software is not the only thing changing; Samsung is also improving the hardware as well.

All of the new devices are now lighter than before and are powered by an exclusive version of the mighty Snapdragon 8 Elite processor from Qualcomm. That should mean some tasks are performed 40 percent faster than before.

They are also made of tougher stuff which should mean less chance of a broken screen and every model now ships 12GB of RAM as standard – the S24 only had 8GB inside.

Those wanting the biggest upgrade will definitely want to grab the more premium S25 Ultra with this device getting a refreshed design that is thinner and lighter than before.

It also boosts the screen to a whopping 6.9 inches and packs a more impressive quad rear camera into its titanium body. Samsung is promising big things from this snapper, including better zoom, more impressive macro shots, and crystal-clear movies at night.

Just like before, the Ultra also gets the famous S Pen stylus plus there’s an improved vapour chamber which makes sure things stay cool when playing console-style games.

There’s more good news if you want to keep your phone for longer. Not only has Samsung covered its new call makers in tougher Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass but you’ll also get a whole 7 years of software and security updates. These devices will go on sale soon with prices starting from £799.

“The greatest innovations are a reflection of their users, which is why we evolved Galaxy AI to help everyone interact with their devices more naturally and effortlessly while trusting that their privacy is secured,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.

“Galaxy S25 series opens the door to an AI-integrated OS that fundamentally shifts how we use technology and how we live our lives.”
