George Russell apologised for winding up Lando Norris with a ‘disgusting’ prank after the Chinese Grand Prix sprint.

As both drivers entered the interview area, Russell placed a finger on either side of Norris’s mouth to force a smile.

Norris wiped his mouth and jokingly told Russell: “Don’t touch me!”

Russell cheekily responded: “I’m just trying to make you smile, mate.”

He then informed Norris that he had washed his hands having only just come out of the toilet. Norris was unimpressed, adding: “Did you just go to the toilet? You better have washed your hands, that’s grim… Jesus! I need some disinfectant.”

Russell’s apology was laced with sarcasm, telling his rival: “Sorry mate that was pretty disgusting, I do apologise.”

Norris quipped: “I’m reporting you to HR.”
