Yes, this upgrade is totally free! As the name suggests, Premier Sports Rugby is the home of action from the Investec Champions Cup, the EPCR Challenge Cup, the United Rugby Championship and some of the biggest games from the TOP14.

It will show rugby action 24 hours a day and will even give users access to two live games from every round from the topflight Japanese Rugby League One competition and the best games from the Major League Rugby competition in the USA.

So, how do you tune in without paying?

Virgin TV says that customers currently subscribed to Premier Sports will be able to enjoy the new channel at no extra cost. If you don’t have a subscription you can sign up with this platform which is priced at £15.99. Along with rugby, Premier Sports also includes football, ice hockey and motorsport action as well.

Speaking about the update, David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, commented: “The expansion of our Premier Sports offering to include the brand-new 24/7 rugby channel, demonstrates our commitment to further enhancing our sports offering and providing something for all of our customers to enjoy – from football and rugby to hockey and motorsport, we’ve got sports fans covered.”

This isn’t the only TV update from Virgin. The firm recently announced a new deal with BBC-owned broadcaster UKTV.

Virgin said this agreement means UKTV’s U streaming service will be available to all of its customers.

The deal ensures users will not lose access to the extremely popular U&GOLD (formerly UKTV Gold) and U&alibi channels, which air classic comedy such as Only Fools And Horses, Dad’s Army and the The Vicar of Dibley as well as dramas that include Murdoch Mysteries, Miss Scarlet, Hudson & Rex and The Red King.

“Providing our customers with access to the latest and greatest TV content sits at the heart of Virgin TV,” said David Bouchier, Chief TV & Entertainment Officer, Virgin Media O2.
