Amazon’s spring sale starts early with big Apple discount you won’t want to miss

Amazon’s annual Spring Deal Days sale event is due to begin on Tuesday March 24, but the retailer has already slashed prices on several popular tech items including the Beats Studio Pro, the Apple-owned audio company’s latest flagship headphones.

You can currently pick up the Beats Studio Pro over-ear Bluetooth headphones for £199, a massive 43 percent discount on the £349.99 RRP.

The headphones are the latest high-end model from the popular Beats brand. The over-ear design includes active noise cancellation (ANC) to block out noise as well as a transparency mode to let sound in if you prefer to be aware of the world around you.

Beats has moved recently to bring much better connectivity with Android, despite being owned by Apple, which makes these headphones a great choice no matter what phone you have. There’s a Beats app for Android that allows quick pairing, settings changes and software updates, but connection to Apple products is quick as always. You also get personalised spatial audio and dynamic head tracking with Apple Music, Apple TV+ and other compatible apps.

Battery life is excellent with cans able to go for up to 40 hours on a single charge, one of the best things about them, though that number is less if you have noise cancellation switched on. When not in use, they fold down to a much smaller size to chuck in a bag or the nifty canvas carry case they come in.

You also get a 3.5mm headphone cable included so you can plug directly into devices, plus the USB-C charge cable can also plug directly into a USB-C Android phone for lossless audio playback via compatible streaming services or file types.

I regularly use the Studio Pro to listen to music and podcasts, and £199 is a fairer price than £349.99 for what you get. That’s not to say these aren’t great headphones – they’re the best Beats I’ve ever used, but the RRP is far too high. At £199, they’re a bit of a steal.

Sound quality is top drawer, pretty much on par with the Apple AirPods Max that Apple sells for a lofty £499. It makes the Beats a solid option if you have about £200 to spend on noise cancelling headphones, though I also recommend the Sony WH-1000XM4, which Amazon also sells for £199.

One thing to bear in mind is the fit of the Studio Pro is quite tight. I’ve got a large head, and after a few hours of wear I need to take them off to give my ears a rest. The cups are big enough to fit entirely over my ears, unlike some headphones, so it puts pressure on the outside of my ears. It’s something to bear in mind, and your mileage may vary.

At the time of writing, Amazon has the Beats Studio Pro on sale in black, brown, white, navy and sandstone. I have the navy pair, but if you want to avoid the plastic construction picking up fingerprints, the white or sandstone colours could be best.

Amazon lists the Beats Studio Pro for £199 as an ‘Early Spring Deal’, so we don’t know how long the price will be this low. Amazon’s Spring Deal Days sale begins on Tuesday March 25 and will run until Monday March 31.
